kk i KNOW you can curl your hair with a straightener, cause i can...but i was wondering if you could tell me if you know how to do it with a flat iron like miley cyrus does in season like in the episode Song Sung Bad, or when ';Hannah Montana'; wears the ';Miley Stewart'; wig in When you Wish Upon a Star.... i also have a curling iron, but it doesn't work great....i have medium length hair....probably past my shoulder by 1-2 inches, and its really thick...tell me with really ';thru'; steps and if its better to start with straight or natural hair!!!

If you have a heat setting, make sure its up pretty high, but not high enough to burn hair.



1. Turn on the curling iron or curling irons that you plan to use.

2. While the curling irons are warming up, separate your hair into three sections by pulling two sections to each side of your face leaving the third section to be the back.

3. Clip up two of the sections, leaving one down. Curl the first section, starting toward the back of your head and working your way to the front. When you put your hair in the curling iron it should look like a spring that is coiled around the curling iron. If you have two different sizes of curling irons use the larger one to curl the bottom layer of your hair and the smaller one to curl the top.

4. Spray that section with your hairspray and gently clip it away from the...REST AT THE SOURCE!

OK i watched that video on youtube that shows how to curl your hair with a straightener. Well my straightener has a heat protected outside and so i can curl it like that. I was wondering if you get the same results with a curling iron than with a straightener.

you're exactly right! curling your hair with a straightner is just like curling ribbon with scissors.. take hold of your hair wrap it around your straightner once and then glide out... it should turn out beautifully.. it m ight not on your first try but keep practicing.

That hair is very cute. You are right. In order to get that look, you must twist your hair and wrap it around the outside of the curling iron.

Help finding this straightener/curler, please!?

ok, so i recently went on a school trip to washington dc and in the mall there, they had a little booth thing and this lady had hair straighteners and curlers all in 1 machine. they look like a normal flat iron: just the two parts that squished together. so here is all that i know about it:

-the lady said it was ceramic

-it came with a lifetime warranty (but i'm not ure if that was the product or her offer)

-it was a regular $250 and she was selling it for $100

-there was a miny sized one (if that means anything)

-to curl your hair, you just curled it around the outside of the straightener

-when i heard the brand or whatever, i'm pretty sure it was the name of a person



i really wish i would've written something down or something. but i didn't have enough money to get it there and i thought i would be able to get it when we got back home. when i did get home, i researched and found some jose eber products, but i'm not sure if any of them work like how i described. and i'm not even sure if that's the right brand.

Should I buy a straightener or a curler?

Okay, so here's the deal: I want to curl my hair for school pretty much all the time; not really interested in straightening it much. However I've heared that you can curl your hair with a straightener as well, and I've watched a heap of youtube videos on the subject. The curls look really good. But really I can't find a definitive answer on which is better to curl your hair with. ( I don't want a super tight curl by the way) Which is better for your hair and how different will it look?

I have thick hair which doesn't stay straight for long.

Yeah, my hair is straight, but you know, sometimes your hair isn't perfectly straight, and you wanna hold the hair in place. Please don't mention that I already have straight hair and getting a hair straightener is absolutely useless, because I think it's not. Straightening your hair doesn't look exactly the same as how my hair looked like in the first place. I also wanna curl my hair with it as well.

- I want something not too expensive, but really good and safe.

- I want a ceramic hair straightener.

- I want a flat iron suitable for my hair.

Yes they're expensive but they work well.

They also come with a dvd to show you how to curl and such.

But if your hair is striaght anyway, just go for some cheapish ones because they will probably give the same effect, except they won't curl aswell.. Maybe get some curlers for that?





Or try some hairstyles not using straighteners, like curling.

vidal sassoon - wet to dry, no need to dry hair first and no need for a hair dryer. this ceramic hair straightener isn't bad for your hair. Although this does retail for approx $120.00, but lookout for this one on sale. there are special serums that you can buy to put into your hair before and after using your hair straightener, which both helps with moisture, and to keep your hair smooth and straight - this is my tip for when straightening your hair.

1. Wash with a regular shampoo that will remove buildup or at least prevent it.

2. Apply a little bit of straightening gel before blow drying and in between towel drying.

You can do a number of things to get this hair style, one of those is braiding it the night before, or try doing it was a hair straightners. They give you really nice curls. You could try putting your hair in a messy bun for the night then take it out in the morning and it was have body waves. or you could just use your regular curling iron, but do it about 1hr before you do watever you want to do so it will drop and go like you want it!

Basically it is next to impossible with the style of flat iron you have. Also if you have very thick hair it is unlikely the flat iron you have will actually get your hair completely straight. As far as style just look in different magazines and see what you like. I am assuming if you bought a flat iron you have some natural curl. You need a chi to do that. Very thin barrel. It needs to be heated all the way around too.

And I recommend getting a 3/4 inch rounded flat iron to curl your hair.
There are some flat iron that are really made to do this such as GHD. Check out their web site. GHD stands for great Hair Day.



But you can try it with your. Pull the iron half way down your hair . Wrap the remaining ends around the iron then roll the iron back to the top of your head to curl the top. It is hard to explain but try it.



Also you can start at the top and twist the hair around the iron as you pull it slowly downward in the spiral motion.



Let it cool completely before you mess with it and it will stay longer. Google the above web site and see if it helps.

hey everyone... i have pretty curly/wavy hair. i have one of those straightening irons. (remmington wet2straight the curved kind to be exact) and i understand how to straighten the hair on the front and side of my head. what i cant seem to do is properly straighten the hair on the back of my head.



another thing is that as soon as my hair gets wet even a little it instantly curls up again. is there something i can do to stop this from happening (i know the hair is supposed become unstraight by the next wash, but i'm talking about little raindrops.)

1st use a straightening cream/lotion by Redken, before drying your hair. Then to straighten the back clip up the top part of you hair and straighten the underneath by sections. Then just unclip a section at to straighten the rest. I was having trouble with that too until I did this. OMG... I have the same straightener. Nothing so far has worked for me for when my hair gets wet and curls up. I HATE that. But if you find something that works, LET ME KNOW!! :)

Uhm... well, to me, the easiest way to straighten the back of my head is to tie the front parts of my hair kind of loosely, but enough for them to stay in place. Then, just look in the mirror, take the curly part and... I don't know... just straighten, I guess. It works for me. Hope it works for you. :D

The moisture thing you can't help, it's gonna happen. I have pretty curly hair also and I use Suave smoothing creme (in the orange tube) while my hair is still wet then I blow dry it as straight as I can. It's still poofy, but then I use a shine pomade sparingly and do it in sections. Small sections from the bottom up and go over it if you need to. Lightly mist with shine serum, lightly!

yes it is possible, but wont work as well as with a flat iron. You can use a straightening serum to help the process. If you have none of that a small, small amount of vegetable oil can be used. This will make your hair kind of curl in at the bottom though

You can straighten your hair with a curling iron...I recommend a larger barreled one (it's much easier). I used to do my hair with one before straighteners became common place.



It might like longer and you should take smaller pieces but it will be straight in the end. Just make sure you pull the iron through your hair the way you want your hair to curl at the end. There will always be a slight flip at the end...so decide before hand if you want it in or out. Or mix it up...it would most likely add volume.

*remember hair protection spray otherwise your hair will split

*dont straighten your fringe - it will start to stick out and be ';chav';

well, hair curls better when dirtier, so your friend is partially right. my hair's really straight too. so i have the same problem. i hold the curl for about 20 seconds if i were you. do it in one inch sections, so its easier to curl. put your hair half up half down, (like this: http://stylebell.files.wordpress.com/200… just not as formal) and do the bottom first. then take out sections of the top half. when you're curling, and the hair's in the iron, spray some hairspray in it so it will hold better. oh and in between doing sections, let the iron heat up a little more. and let the iron heat up for about ten minutes. if this doesn't even work, then pin the curls with up with bobby pins for a while, and spray it with hairspray.How do I get my hair to curl?

okay my hairdresser told me that curling irons arent that good and that you should use a straightener to curl your hair instead, because it lasts longer, you can also try those hot curlers and i guess out a lot of hairspray



I know I'm not much of a help because I have curly hair so I wouldn't know but you could also try putting moose in your hair and like squeezing the hair in your hands or braid your hair and when you take it out it will be curly. I know you only have 2 hours but for another time you can get clip-on extensions there not that expensive and get ones that curl easily

Chi Irons are some of the best out there. The best way to straighten hair is by using a flat iron spray like Sleek by MAtrix iron smoother. Take small sections for best results. As for flip or curling it is all in how you move you iron.
If its the straightener I'm thinking of to flip your hair clamp the straighterner towards the top of a lock of hair but bring the straightener down horizontally on an upper 45 degree angle. Hope thats not too hard to follow.

I know how to curl my hair with my GHD. The only problem is, it seems to go flat in like an hour!



I have naturally wavy hair, so I start off straightening it after washing and blow-drying, then sectioning and curling 3 cm pieces at a time. I put a bit of Wellla 'Punk Chic' matt paste on each section after curling it, then spray all over with light hairspray right at the end. (I don't like Strong Hairspray as it makes your hair too stiff)



I don't want the tight ringlet-curls - just nice, loose curls. But the curls still collapse and my hair just goes a bit wavy half-way through the day/night! So does anybody have tips on how to stop this happening?

ur hair wll need the strong hair spray that makes it stiff unfortunately, there is no other way and yse a heat protection balm instead of the matt paste, make sure that this paste is even ok to use before irons, maybe before hair blowdrying but 4 irons u got very different products

Try Herbal Essences Set Me Up hair spray. It works great for me! Get the maximum hold one. It comes in a blue and green bottle, and you can buy it at drug stores.

Just spray it on as soon as your hair looks exactly how you want it. Spray it all over, and use a lot of it.

This product is weighing your hair down. A better product would be to use Wella Curl Artist or Curl Energy.
dont use the paste on ur hair it will weigh it down. instead of spraying ur hair all over when ur done. spray each section seperatly. also ur hair may be too long. too much hair will weigh down the curls and cause it to go flat.

What I always do after showering is to bow down my head, and with my towel, I clasp my hair in between the towel, and just rub out the excess of water. I don't just squeeze out the water, but I rub my hair, with my hands, and towel and the excess water clings to the towel. I do that for about 1-2 minutes, and then I just let it dry out by itself. It always works for me, but you have to rub well, and not loosely.
Use your towel. Wrap your hair up in your towel (a dry one) after you squeeze the excess water out first. Let the towel stay there as long as possible and get ready in the meantime. Do your makeup, get dressed and about 10-15 before you leave take your hair down and put it in a pony tail, braid, or loose bun.
Shake, towel dry, brush.

Wrap it in a warm towl straight from the dryer! Leave the towel on for about 10 minutes then get a new warm dry towl and leave that on for 10 minutes. That should help!

My hair is pretty much pin straight and I Iove it b/c it's not a pain to deal with but I get soo bored with it sometimes! I have layers and side swept bangs, how can I put more body in it? I wouldn't suggest perming your hair, it could damgage it a lot. I have naturally curly hair and it's a pain to deal with. Do you use hair spray? There is one by paul mitchell (it's purple) it's the ';body'; collection, it works pretty good. Flip your head over, and spray it all over, but not too much. My straightener goes up to 430 degrees. My hair is course. It was impossible to curl with it. I followed the enclosed guide, used products, and it still was unsuccessful.



So I went out and got a spiral perm and now straighten it when I am in the mood! LOL

you could get it wavy by like having a shower and then with wet hair plait it.

Like it doesnt go that curly, but it does go like really nice waves.

I think the more plaits you do the curlier it will go but it might make your hair like really big :L

Another way is to use some salt spray or another sort of product to get wavy hair.

You could buy some rollers to use on damp hair or to sleep in.

have a shower, plat your hair then dry it with a hair dryer if your in a rush. if you arn't in a rush then just let it dry normaly.



Tip: the biger the plats the more wavy effect. if they are small then it will just go all frizzy and wont even be fixable by a streightener!

I personally have quite wavy hair, when i have a shower/bath and my hair is wet, i can put any kind of mousse, or curl spray in my hair and tip my head upside down, once my head is upside down i scrunch it from the length of your hair bringing the hair up to the roots. If that doesnt work for you, you can buy something which is called a diffuser, it attaches onto a hair dryer and i will include a site below which shows you how to use it. Diffusing gives your hair more volume and 'oomph' so it isn't so flat and straggly. I hope ive helped, happy waving!

yes you can!! i've done it before, but it was a skinny straighter. i think a skinny straighter works better than an actual curling iron because the heat settings are higher than a curling iron. so you can curl your hair faster. if you use the straighter, just treat it as a curling iron and it should work!!

They look better than tacky spiral curls i think. Definately more trendy and modern...however very tricky to do. Like that other chic said, find videos on how to do them, it's WAY TO HARD to explain.

i can do it!!! i have ghd's and they go up to 210 its not that much difference! hold a piece of hair out to the side, hold the straightners at the topa a nd slowly start to slide them down your hair at the same time twist the tongs inwards to your haed keep twisting an movind down. its simple really once you no how!!

WARNING dont go too fast you r hair gets twisted up!! i learnt this lesson the hard way!

its honestly nothard ia m only 13 i can do it perfect !! LOL

It depends what kind of straightener you have, also how much you use it. Not all straighteners damage your hair as bad as others. Yes, its bad especially if you have dry hair. if you have oily hair, its not as bad. but you should always use a heat protectant spray.
If you use a cheap flat iron yes. There is a huge difference between ceramic coated %26amp; solid ceramic plates. In a more expensive flat iron you also get a solid cermic heating coil which distributes the heat evenly across the plates. Damage will also depend on your hair, is it fine, meddium or coarse. If someone has mutliple chemical service and flat irons every day it will damage the hair. If you have taken great care of your hair, invest in a great iron (GHD or CHI), limit your chemical services (hair color, relaxers) and apply a heat protecting spray (S-Factor Flat Iron SPray) prior to flat ironing you wont damage you hair.
Dont over do it. One of my friends hair(she staighttens EVERY day) is very weak and the ends all all dead..

Hard to explain on here, but i will give it a shot.



Take a small section of hair and starting from the root put the hair in the straightners as if you are going to straighten, but in stead turn the straighteners downwards so that the hair goes round in a little semi circle, then slowly pull down as if straightening. once done just give the curls alittle spray, really easy to do it that way.

my friend showed me this really cool thing- just take a curling iron, and wrap a 1-inch section around the outside of the barrel. start at the top (by the handle) of the iron and just wind it around until you run out of hair! it should give you nice defined, but loose kinda beachy waves. i love when my friend does her hair like that.

In my local shopping centre in essex i came across a small stool selling hair straighteners which can also be used to curl your hair. There was a man demonstrating how to use them and was explaining to me that there was a rubber tip on the end which helped create the curl. you can only curl your hair with a straightener if your straighter has curved edges, if the are straight, you will end up with dents.



use it like a normal curling iron if you want tight curls.

for loose curles, start with the curling iron up and wrap the hair around going downwards, when hairs hot, gently pull the iron up more until curl slips out, pin curl to head so that it will cool off while doing other curls and it will keep the curl longer.

it takes lots of muscle strength for this.
They make straighteners that convert to curling irons, otherwise you can't really curl it. What you can do is flip out the ends with it or make the ends look a little wavy. Just straighten as usual then go over the ends layer by layer and twist the straightener outwards to flip. To make the ends wavy its virtually the same thing but you want to twist the straightener in all sorts of directions to give it a not so unified look. you might just have a really bad curling iron because it's not supposed to smell, or you could just need to clean it. you can get a moist towel and wipe down the barrel when it is off and cooled down.



the irons from the mall are really bad, they work the first few times, but people drop them once, and they shatter into a millions pieces. people come into my salon all the time telling me how much they regret buying those irons. a chi can curl, and no it doesn't smell. only the 1 inch chi straightener can curl hair btw, unless you are talking about the chi curling iron. you are supposed to clean them off every once in a while, and use a heat protection spray, the best is 44 iron guard from chi.

I've seen videos on Youtube of how to curl your hair with a straightener. They wrapped the hair around it, then just pulled it through, and it came out curly. But my hair still comes out straight when I do this. Any better methods? I have a 1 1/2 inch Revlon straightener with one round edge, one flat edge.

First of all you have to have a straightener which is heated on the outside to. You have to wrap it around like you would around a curler and hold it for a second or two. If you do have the right kind of straightener it works great and saves money :). Good luck and I hope you have the right type.

When your doing it, kinda twist the straightener as your going down. it works sometimes.
I do this and I refer to it as the ribbon effect. Go to youtube and type in curling hair with a straightener. It is a little hard to explain and very easy after you watch. I think it works better than a regular curling iron and the curls last all day. :) good luck

yes, you can. take a small section of hair, and with your straightening iron, starting at the root, twist the flat iron around while pulling it down, and it'll create a loose curl/ringlet.
Remember how you make ribbon curly w/ scissors? Use that same effect to get curly hair with a flat iron. The smaller the portion and the tighter you hold it the more curly it will be and vice versa! I do this a lot b/c i hate curling irons, I only have a marcel..and that's a pain in the ****.

if you have a thin one not a wide one



Spray hair with heat protectant spray and comb through. This creates a protective barrier between the hair and the iron so that the hair doesn't 'frizzle' and burn. Therefore, this is highly recommended.

Brush you hair thoroughly. Section hair: starting at the nape of your head (that is, the part closest to, or on, your neck), estimate an imaginary line 1-inch above the back hair line. Section away and clip up all the remaining hair. You should be left with an inch-thick section of hair closest to the hairline.

From this remaining section of hair, take an inch meche. That is, the piece you've just separated should now be an 1-inch x 1-inch square x length of hair. Note: The size of the section you take influences the size and crispness of the curl. Smaller sections make smaller, tighter curls, and more of them. Large sections make large, lose curls and few of them. The inch x inch is a guide.

For Flicks:

Start half-way down the length of hair, clamp the iron closed and turn it back on itself in a half turn. You should now have created a U-shape with the hair and the iron. Keeping the iron on that half-turn angle, slowly move it down the hairshaft to the end of the hair. The faster you move the iron, the less pronounced the curl/flick will be.

鈼or Curls: Start fairly close to the scalp (but not close enough to accidentally burn it), clamp the iron closed and turn it back on itself a half turn (the same as with flicks). Run the iron slowly down the hairshaft to the end. Again, the slower you move the iron, the tighter the curl. The faster you move the iron, the gentler the wave.)

Move onto the next inch x inch section. Once you've finished an entire row, section the next inch-wide row and then make your smaller sections to curl.

I looked it up on youtube a few weeks ago when i needed to curl my hair, and came across this video..i used her technique of straightening it once, and then wrapping it once around the flat iron and twisting the iron and going down. It looks more like the first style on my hair..it may differ on yours.
I'm pretty sure they used curling irons for those hair styles. Straighteners make your hair zig zagyish usually.

Try curling it when its clean. Put heat protection spray. Use a bit of frizz serum. When you curl it, try pulling the straightener down faster and pressing harder. The curls should be smaller. Add hair spray and wa-lah! If you want bigger curls, just finger comb your hair pulling down a bit on the curls. Another thing, have you tried curling it the opposite way? Meaning if you put your hair over the straightener to curl it, try putting your hair under and vice-versa. Hope that helps :) Try watching the video below

What you do is you start from the root and you put your straightener on there, then you pull down and twist it and the same time. you could try wrapping your hair around the hot plates...or put it at a very steep angle...i'm not sure you can curl with any straightener but there are straighteners out there that both curl and straighten
Take sections of your hair (the smaller the sections, the tighter the curls but the longer it takes), I suggest about half an inch thick, and twist it (like you were bored and playing with your hair). Once it's completely twisted, press the straightener onto your twisted piece and hold it there for about 15 seconds. Move down the twisted piece with the straightener until you have pressed the entire length of the section. I like to hold the piece up with a hair clip while I do the rest of my hair (to keep it out of my way and to hold the curl). Once my whole head is done i spray hairspray and sit for a few more minutes. When you're ready, remove all the clips, flip your hair over and tousle your hair to unwrap the curls! I personally think it looks super pretty when you curl with a straightening iron. :) Here's how to do it.



Take a 1 inch piece of hair in your hand and clamp the straightener down on it about 5 inches away from the root.

Roll the straightener up the hair until you've rotated it so that the piece of hair that is hanging out is hanging down again.

Slowly, pull the straightener down the straightener down to the end of the strand. Make sure to angle it pointing downwards slightly!

When you get to the bottom, pull it all the way down and release the straightener. Let the curl go, and spray with hairspray to ensure it holds. :)

it's much easier to get one and do it that way so you don't end up with kinks in your hair.



however, to help you out, i think the most you'd be able to do is just flip the ends out. that's all i could do with my old flat-iron.

Honestly, i learned from watching a few YouTube vids. is pretty simple...just search for curling your hair with a flat iron. Its is really hard to explain via typing...so my suggestion is to get on youtube and watch a vid or 2.



Oh by the way..in my pic, my hair is curled with my Chi...and the curls you get from a flat iron are different then curling iron curls...and in my opinion much better. Flat iron curls stay in my hair all day where as curling iron curls tend to fall really fast.

That picture really doesn't show the width of your straightener well so I'm going to assume it's a 2 inch straightener. You should still be able to curl your hair but it would be much easier with a 1 inch straightener. If your hair is short you most likely will not be able to achieve any curls but perhaps waves. However, if you have medium to long length hair then you'll be able to get waves/curls. Just play around with your straightener.Is my straightener to wide to curl my hair?
It's really hard to tell based on the internet picture. I have a straightener that is about one inch wide, but it is curved on the edges so that I can wrap my hair around it and get it to curl under/out/or whatever.



I simply just wash, blow dry with some light mousse in my hair, and then begin curling in sections.

It is possible. but not with all hair straightners.. like my CHI is a pro and it curls even though its a flat iron. the flat iron is only about an inch wide and it works very well, but if you have a forty dollar 5 inch wide hair straightner, it more than likely wont work. Hope this helped!
Don't listen to those complainers. It IS possible to curl your hair with a straightener, and it turns out very cute if you ask me. Its actually the NEW thing... so everyone who didnt know how to do it... Yeah they dont know whats in. Anyways... No, the only way that would work is if your hair is SUPER fine! Because you would have less hair for the straightener to heat up.

Curling your hair with a flat iron only works if the edges of your iron are rounded. Like not straight, or square. If they are you just need to kinda use it like a curling iron. I flip my ends out using my flat iron by just running the iron down my hair and rolling it up a little at the ends. If you want your hair totally curly I would suggest using hot rollers.
you have to buy the flat iront hat has metal on the far side. that way you can kinda twist your hair while flat ironing it. its kinda hard to explain...
That makes it have a little more body but it doesn't really curl your hair. Flat irons are basicly to flaten your hair and make it straighter. They do have some really good curling irons called solid gold that curl your hair really well. They come in all sizes.
Maybe you are thinking of a curling iron/flat iron combo...? a friend of mine has one. It looks just like a regular curling iron, but if you unlock this little hook it upens into a flat iron. unfortunalty i dont know what it is called or what the brandname is, but im sure you could find it at like Sally's beauty supplies.

there are really good straightners that u can also curl ure hair with...its exactly like using a curling iron..just wrap it around..but make sure u let it go straight down...check ure mall to see if theres any stands that sell those really good mildly expensive straightners...its useful to have a two in one going on!
first, try a curling iron. make sure its ceramic, they work way better!



or try washing it and putting in some kind of ';curling'; gel and have it it braids or just scrunch it up with your fingers.

I've tried doing that but my hair got all bent and zig-zagged, trust me it wont curl. You'll probably have to get a curling iron; the small ones cost only like $12.

If you want to curl your hair use a curling iron. Go to a beauty supply and look at the different sizes and find one that suits your need.

put your hair inside, clip together and turn in/out, hold it for about 5 seconds and let go,

follow these steps





# Start off by dividing your hair, this can be done by parting your hair into two parts straight down the middle. For each side, roll your hair into a bun and hold it up with a clip. You also should repeat the last step for the other part of your hair.



# Turn on your straightener, and place it onto a sensible place.



# You will then need to take a bit of hair out of your bun this section of your hair you take out should be as thick as one of your fingers.



# You then need to hold that section of hair near the end of the straightener. You are then required to place the iron over the section of your hair. Afterwards, wrap that section of hair around the bottom plate.



# You will then need to gently close the straightener lightly gripping the section of your hair. Then glide the straightener down towards the ends and rotate it outwards. If you don't like the curl you end up with you can always try again on the same section of your hair



# You then need to repeat step 3-5, and use it to curl up the rest of your hair with a straightener.
My Solution is to take your hair wash it with shampoo and conditioner then dry your hair.Next take your Straightener and twist it,in your hair doesn't turn out then take the curling iron an do a perfect curl then take your straightener and put your hair in too it then twist it too the right for about 5 seconds and it should turn out !!! That's what I did!

well to curl your hair with a flat iron, you take a small section of hair, clamp the flat iron down on it and basically flip it 180 degrees. You then pull down gently, and upon releasing the hair there should be a spiral curl. Here's a good video showing you how:
